Self-healing microcapsules are currently one of the most promising functional materials due to their excellent performance. The preparation of self-healing microcapsules via photopolymerization is quite attractive considering its efficiency and environmental-friendliness. However, the influence of the preparation process and shell-formation materials on the formation and the morphol. of microcapsule have not been systematically researched. This work combines photopolymerization technol. and solvent evaporation to prepare microcapsule, and comprehensively explores the influence of process conditions and shell-formation materials on the microcapsules. Two preparation processes, UV-SR (photopolymerization first and then solvent removal) and SR-UV (solvent removal first and then photopolymerization), have been employed to prepare microcapsules. The SR-UV method is more suitable for preparing microcapsules with high core content and spherical core-shell morphol. The particle size distribution of microcapsules is related to the shear strength during initial emulsion preparation, and the size of microcapsules can be effectively controlled. At the same time, the effect of the shell-formation materials is also systematically studied. The method is universal for the preparation of microcapsules based on com. UV-curable prepolymers, but the introduction of UV-curable monomers may lead to the transformation of microcapsules from core-shell structure to multi-core structure. Microcapsules can be uniformly dispersed in water-borne epoxy, and the coating based on microcapsules exhibits excellent self-healing properties.

A palladium(II)/norbornene cooperative catalysis enabled redox-neutral ortho-C-H amination of pinacol aryl- or heteroarylborates for the synthesis of structurally diverse anilines was reported. The method was scalable, robust (tolerance of air and moisture), phosphine ligand-free and compatible with a wide range of functionalities. These practical features made this reaction amenable for industry. A plethora of synthetically very useful halogenated anilines which often cannot be prepared via other transition-metal-catalyzed aminations were readily produced using this method. Particularly, the orthogonal reactivity between pinacol arylborates and aryl iodides was demonstrated. Preliminary deuterium-labeling studies revealed a redox-neutral ipso-protonation mechanism of this process, which will surely inspire the future development of this field. Overall, the exceptionally broad scope (47 examples) and reliability of this procedure, together with the wide availability of pinacol arylborates made this chem. a valuable addition to the existing methods for aniline synthesis.

The ubiquitous water vapor in industrial gas is a challenge for volatile organic compound (VOC) adsorbents. Herein, we have developed a strategy to improve the hydrophobicity and water stability of ZIF-67(Co) through internal and external modification. Through amine modification of the carrier surface rich in nanoscale roughness, the shape and size of ZIF-67(Co) are changed. ZIF-67(Co) is uniformly anchored on the macroporous surface of polyacrylates (PA) through interface coordination, forming a unique hierarchical porous structure. Compared with the original ZIF-67(Co), the toluene adsorption efficiency of ZIF-67(Co)@PA is increased by 2.75 times at 298 K and at a toluene partial pressure of P/P0 = 0.005. Furthermore, to inhibit undesired water adsorption due to the rich defect sites, hydrophobically modified ZIF-67(Co)@PA (yielding P-ZIF-67(Co)@PA) has also been prepared, which exhibits a slight decrease in toluene adsorption and maintains the advantages of low water vapor adsorption and high hydrophobicity to improve the water stability of ZIF-67(Co).

For UV-induced peelable PSA used in the wafer dicing process, improving the peel performance can effectively increase the process reliability and the yield of subsequent packaging process. In this work, a NCO-containing castor oil-based urethane acrylate oligomer called CO-PUB with dual curable functions (UV-induced polymerization and NCO/OH reaction) was obtained by partially sealing a castor oil-based urethane oligomer with hydroxyethyl acrylate. Fourier transform IR spectroscopy (FTIR) and NMR spectrometer (NMR) results indicated that CO-PUB was successfully prepared CO-PUB, OH-containing acrylic copolymer, multifunctional acrylate monomer and photo-initiator were used to construct a UV-induced peelable adhesive for silicon wafer dicing. The results showed that NCO groups in CO-PUB underwent the NCO/OH reaction with the acrylic copolymer to obtain a vinyl pendant cross-linked acrylic copolymer. The peel strength of this peelable adhesive before UV irradiation could exceed 20 N/25 mm. After UV irradiation, the unsaturated vinyl bonds contained in it were copolymerized with the multifunctional acrylate monomer to form a fully cross-linked adhesive film and the peel strength could be reduced to below 1 N/25 mm. Compared with UV-induced peelable adhesives prepared by other reported curing agents, the adhesive prepared from CO-PUB reduced UV dose required for curing. The crosslinking degree of cured adhesive film was also increased and the gel content was up to 95%. The residual adhesive after peeling off could be reduced to about 0.32%. In addition, CO-PUB used renewable castor oil as polyol and did not need to add any organic solvent during the preparation process, providing a new idea for the green preparation of UV-induced peelable adhesive with excellent performances.

It is well known that UV radiation can cause human health problems and that energy consumption can lead to human survival problems. Here, we prepared a composite membrane that can block UV radiation as well as reduce energy consumption. Carbon dots (CDs) and acrylates were prepared from xylose and epoxidized soybean oil as biomass feedstocks, resp., and the composite membrane was prepared by a self-assembly strategy. The first layer of the membrane is composed of CDs and epoxy resin. Its main function is not only to weaken UV rays and the aggregation-induced quenching effect of CDs but also to reduce the absorption of UV rays by the second layer of the membrane. The second layer consists of barium sulfate (BaSO4) and acrylate. Compared to TiO2 (3.2 eV), BaSO4 (~6 eV) has a higher electronic band gap, which reduces the absorption of UV light by the membrane. The composite membrane exhibits excellent UV-blocking and radiative cooling performance, shielding 99% of UV rays. In addition, the membrane can reduce 4.4°C in radiative cooling tests, achieving a good cooling effect. Finally, the recyclability of the BaSO4/acrylate membrane is discussed, and 95% recovery rate provides sustainable utilization of the membrane. The composite membrane is expected to be popularized and used in low latitudes and areas with high temperature and high UV radiation near the equator.

The processing system and wallpaper products in this article not only promote the plastic recycling economy and sustainable agricultural development but also provide new channels for the development of waste oil reuse and new ideas for the development of high value-added biocomposite materials.

Opuntia genus belongs to the Cactaceae family, Mexico is the major producer in the world. Due to Opuntia’s phytochem. content and their health-related benefits, was proposed the elaboration of liquor using Opuntia fruit. Phenolic content, volatile aromatic profile, antioxidant activity, and sensory evaluation were carried out to characterize the liquor. Sensorial evaluation results showed that L-2D (2 day-macerated liquor) has the higher consumers’ acceptance. Moreover, L-2D had the highest content of volatile compounds (348 mg/L), and the highest antioxidant activity (1.29, 1.63 and 2.05 mmol Trolox/L, according to ABTS, DPPH and FRAP methods, resp.). We could identify and quantify 29 volatile compounds, being Et acetate and D-limonene those with the highest content. Quercitrin was the most abundant phenolic compound in the liquor. The findings of this study demonstrate that Opuntia liquor is a rich source of phenolics and aromatic compounds that would be a drink with the probability of being commercialize.

Here, a moss-inspired sticky-slippy skin composed of layered organohydrogel is reported through a one-step wetting-enabled-transfer (WET) strategy, which unprecedentedly integrates robust inherent adhesion with durable anti-oil-fouling properties. The sticky organogel layer can be simply attached to various substrates, from metals and plastics to glass, independent of any surface pretreatment. The slippy hydrogel layer enables stable underwater superoleophobicity and ultralow oil adhesion for diverse kinds of oils. The sticky-slippy skin features outstanding comprehensive properties including easy-pasting, anti-swelling/anti-bending, compatibility with com. adhesives, acid/alkali resistance, environmental friendliness, and substrate universality. The design strategy with integrated functions provides a clue to accelerate the development of bioinspired multifunctional interfacial materials toward real-world applications.

LAB fermented kiwifruit extract dramatically had a highest vitamin C (VitC) concentration during the fermentation, while yeast and natural fermented samples were decline steadily. Another interesting founding, a highest level of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) was found in Saccharomyces cerevisiae J2861 fermented kiwifruit extract with 24.132 ± 1.01μg/mL. Furthermore, the main organic acids in fresh kiwifruit and yeast fermented kiwifruit extract were citric acid and malic acid. However, lactic acid and citric acid were the main organic acids in LAB fermented kiwifruit extract A total of 43 kinds of flavor compounds in fresh kiwifruit and 88 kinds of flavor compounds in fermented kiwifruit extract were identified. Esters and alcs. in fermented kiwifruit system increased by the fermentation of selected bacteria which improved the taste and flavor.
