Yang, Xingchuan published the artcileLiquid-Liquid Equilibrium Measurement and Correlation for the Ternary Systems (Dimethyl Succinate + 1,4-Butanediol)/(Dimethyl Glutarate + 1,5-Pentanediol)/(Dimethyl Adipate + 1,6-Hexanediol) + Water at Different Temperatures, Recommanded Product: Dimethyl adipate, the publication is Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data (2020), 65(4), 1875-1885, database is CAplus.

Liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data for esters + diols + water ternary systems were measured at 101.3 kPa at four different temperatures, namely, 293.15, 303.15, 313.15, and 323.15 K. The Othmer-Tobias equation and the Hand equation were applied to examine the reliability of the LLE data in which both regression coefficients were higher than 0.98. The calculated distribution coefficients and separation factors were larger than 1, which means that it is feasible to extract the diols from the corresponding ester with water. In addition, NRTL and UNIQUAC models were applied to correlate the exptl. data, and the binary interaction parameters were obtained. The calculated root-mean-square deviation values show that both models are in good agreement with the exptl. data.

In the present work, the biocatalyzed synthesis of a series of aromatic-aliphatic polyesters based on the aliphatic diesters di-Me succinate, di-Me adipate and di-Me sebacate and the aromatic diols 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan, 3,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan and 2,6-pyridinedimethanol were investigated. A similar series of polyesters based on the petroleum-based 1,3-benzenedimethanol, 1,4-benzenedimethanol and 1,4-benzenediethanol were also synthesized for comparison. Data show that the enzymic syntheses were successful starting from all diols, with the obtained polymers having isolated yields between 67 and over 90%, number average mol. weights between 3000 Da and 5000 Da and d.p. (DP) of 6-18 (based on the used aliphatic diesters and aromatic diols) when polymerized in di-Ph ether as solvent. Only using 3,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan as the diol led to shorter oligomers with isolated yields around 50% and DPs of 3-5. DSC and TGA thermal analyses show clear correlation between polymer crystallinity and aliphatic carbon chain length of the diester.

Abstract: Itaconate has recently emerged as a regulator of immune cell functions, especially in macrophages. Studies show that itaconate is required for the activation of anti-inflammatory transcription factor Nrf2 by LPS in mouse and human macrophages, and LPS-activated IRG1-/- macrophages that lack endogenous itaconate production exhibit augmented inflammatory responses. Thus, we investigated whether itaconate possesses an immunomodulatory effect on regulating MG activation and CNS inflammation in animal models of multiple sclerosis, exptl. autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Methods: Chronic C57BL/6 EAE was induced followed by DMI treatment. The effect of DMI on disease severity, blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption, MG activation, peripheral Th1/Th17 differentiation, and the CNS infiltration of Th1/Th17 cells in EAE was determined Primary MG was cultured to study the effect of DMI on MG activation. Results: Our results show DMI ameliorated disease severity in the chronic C57BL/6 EAE model. Strikingly, DMI also exhibited a therapeutic effect on alleviating severity of relapse in the relapsing-remitting SJL/J EAE model. Conclusions: We demonstrate that DMI suppresses neuroinflammation and ameliorates disease severity in EAE through multiple cellular and mol. mechanisms, suggesting that DMI can be developed as a novel therapeutic agent for the treatment of MS/EAE through its immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties.

Radical hydrogenation via hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) to alkenes is an increasingly important transformation for the formation of thermodn. alkane isomers. Current single-catalyst methods require stoichiometric oxidant in addition to hydride (H) source to function. Here we report a new approach to radical hydrogenation: cooperative hydrogen atom transfer (cHAT), where each hydrogen atom donated to the alkene arrives from a different catalyst. Further, these hydrogen atom (H•) equivalent are generated from complementary hydrogen atom precursors, with each alkane requiring one hydride (H) and one proton (H+) equivalent and no added oxidants. Preliminary mechanistic study supports this reaction manifold and shows the intersection of metal-catalyzed HAT and thiol radical trapping HAT catalytic cycles to be essential for effective catalysis. Together, this unique catalyst system allows us to reduce a variety of unactivated alkene substrates to their resp. alkanes in high yields and diastereoselectivities and introduces a new approach to radical hydrogenation.

Adiponitrile (ADN) is a key intermediate for the industrial production of polyamides represented by nylon 66. In this study, the chemoselective nitrilation of di-Me adipate (DMA) with ammonia (NH3) under continuous flow conditions was studied on carbon encapsulated oxygen-deficient WOx<3 catalysts (WOx@C/C). A combination of dispersed anchor sites at a poly(ionic liquid) (PIL) template, the porosity of active carbon support, and the calcination procedure allows the formation of effective WOx@C-600-0.25-A1, persisting high BET sp. surface area and WO2.83 active phase of appropriate size. It delivers ADN and Me 5-cyanopentanoate (MCP) with an excellent selectivity of up to 95.8% at a weight hourly space velocity of DMA (WHSVDMA) of ∼0.64 gDMA gcat-1 h-1 and an NH3/DMA molar ratio of 13 : 1. A tandem reaction route from DMA to ADN via MCP was elucidated, wherein the second nitrilation of MCP to ADN proceeds very slowly. Besides, both CDMA and TONADN/TONMCP are significantly influenced by the phys. dispersion and size of the active WO2.83 phase in WOx@C/C.

An environmentally benign route leading to adiponitrile (ADN), a nylon-6,6 intermediate, was achieved by direct vapor-phase nitrilation of di-Me adipate (DMA) with ammonia (NH3) in a fixed-bed reactor. The challenges of this reaction include not only inhibiting both intramol. cyclization and the intermol. polycondensation of the electron-withdrawing group functionalized carbon chain but also suppressing the thermolysis of aliphatic DMA and ADN. Both amphoteric oxides and acidic oxides enable the transformation but exhibit different reactivities. Under evaluation conditions, the acidic oxides exhibit moderate to good nitrile selectivity, while the amphoteric oxides exhibit high DMA conversions with relatively low nitrile selectivity. Under the optimized conditions, the desired ADN was obtained with a selectivity of 84.3% with 97.7% DMA conversion over Nb2O5-1000 consisting of a monoclinic structure/phase (H-Nb2O5). The structure-performance relationship of this catalyst was preliminarily discussed. Furthermore, a tentative reaction pathway consisting of ammonolysis and dehydration processes in a tandem mode was proposed.

Zheng, Qi published the artcileEffect of irradiation on volatile compound profiles and lipid oxidation in chicken powder seasoning, Recommanded Product: Dimethyl adipate, the publication is Radiation Physics and Chemistry (2022), 109851, database is CAplus.

The effects of two types of industrial irradiation sources (10 MeV electron beam (EB) and gamma ray (GR), irradiation at 4 kGy and 7 kGy, resp.) on off-odor, volatile compounds, and lipid oxidation in chicken powder seasoning were studied. Irradiation induced off-odor and lipid oxidation in a dose-dependent manner. EB was better than GR at the same dose, with less off-odor and lower peroxide value (POV) and thiobarbitunic acid reactive substance (TBARS) values. GC/MS anal. revealed the presence of 121 volatile compounds, including 113 in non-irradiated chicken powder seasoning followed by 98 in EB 4 kGy, 91 in EB 7 kGy, 80 in GR 4 kGy, and 76 in GR 7 kGy. Irradiation decreased terpenes and terpenoids, and increased aldehydes/alkenes and induced formation of E-1,8-dodecadiene, which correlated to increasing radiation dose. EB induced higher alkenes, terpenes, and terpenoids as well as lower aldehydes than GR at the same dose. In GR 7 kGy-irradiated chicken powder seasoning, 3-octen-2-one, 3,5-octadien-2-one, hexanal, and hexanoic acid were higher than other irradiation treatments. These results suggest that dose contributes to off-odor intensity, and EB has an advantage over GR for chicken powder seasoning irradiation, with more original volatile compounds, lower off-odor, and less lipid oxidation
