Baldwin, Jack E.; Reiss, James A. published the artcile< Preference for 6-exo-trigonal closures of ω-hydroxy-αβ-unsaturated esters>, Formula: C7H12O3, the main research area is ester hydroxy unsaturated cyclization; valerate hydroxy methylene cyclization; lactonization hydroxmethylenevalerate.
Treatment of HO(CH2)3C(CO2Me):CH2 (I) with base, e.g. NaH, NaOMe, or KOCMe3, caused slow cyclization to give the lactone II. II is formed by a 6-Exo-Trig process which is a faster reaction than the alternative 6-Endo-Trig mode of ring closure. The slow reaction of I was due to its isomerization to the s-trans conformation in which the 6-Exo-Trig closure was sterically improbable.
Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications published new progress about Cyclization. 18729-20-9 belongs to class esters-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C7H12O3, Formula: C7H12O3.
