Thus, (1R)-(-)-1,1′-binaphthalene-2,2′-diyl phosphorochloridite (1) was prepared from (1R)-(+)-1,1′-bi(2-naphthol) and 9.6 equiv of PCl3 with quant. yield; reaction of 1 with (-)-[(1S)-MePhCH]2NH gave the ligand (Rax,S,S)-I [3, R1 = R2 = (1S)-MePhCH] with 86% yield.
