Example-l: Preparation of 2-methyl-2-phenylpropanoic acid (FormuIa-3) Methyl 2-methyl-2-phenylpropanoate compound of formula-2 (100 gm) and methanol (500 ml) were added to a pre-cooled mixture of sodium hydroxide (45 gm) and water (500 ml) at 10-15C.
