To the stirred and cooled (-78 C) solution of 3,4-difluoroacetophenone (1 g, 6.404mmol) in diethyl ether (10 mL) was added methyl magnesium bromide (3M in ether,1.9 mL, 6.405 mmol). The reaction mixture was allowed to gradually warm up to RTand stirred for 18 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with saturated ammoniumchloride solution (50 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (2 x 50 mL).
