General procedure: Argon was bubbledthrough a mixture of boronic acid 13 [27] (1.43 g, 4.65 mmol), methyl 2-bromo-4-methoxybenzoate (14, 950mg, 3.88 mmol), and Cs2CO3 (5.06 g, 15.5 mmol) in DME/H2O (5:1, 10.5 mL of DME and 2.1 mL ofH2O) for 10 min.
