The solid was rinsed with a minimal amount of a methanol-diethyl ether mixture, dried under vacuum to deliver the desired intermediate, ethyl 1 -(2-fluorobenzyl)-5 -hydroxy-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate (11.8 g, 71 % yield) as a cream colored solid.?H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD) ppm 7.24 – 7.41 (m, 1 H), 7.09 – 7.16 (m, 2 H), 7.02 – 7.07 (m, 1 H), 5.95 (s, 1 H), 5.29 (s, 2 H), 4.33 (q, 2 H), 1.36 (t, 3 H).
