The resulting compound is cooled to room temperature, filtered using ethyl acetate (50 mL) and MeOH (30 mL),The organics were concentrated and purified by column chromatography (ethylacetate: methanol = 49: 1) to ethyl 1-hydroxy-3-oxo-3,5,6,7-tetrahydropyrido [3,2,1-ij]quinoline-2-carboxylate (0.96 g, 3.5 mmol) was obtained.
