Hydrogenation over 0.5 g of palladium on carbon in 100 mL of ethanol under 1 atm of hydrogen overnight gave 0.9 g of 4-(3-benzyl-8-aza-bicyclo[3.2.1]oct-8-yl)-butyric acid after drying under vacuum at 100 C. overnight which was homogeneous by TLC (90:10:1 chloroform:methanol:ammonium hydroxide).
