General procedure: A mixture of (E)-3-phenyl-2-[(toluene-4-sulfonylamino)methyl]-acrylic acid methyl ester (345 mg, 1.0 mmol), methyl 2-(bromomethyl)acrylate (269 mg, 1.5 mmol), and K2CO3(276 mg, 2.0 equiv) in DMF (3.0 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 5 h.
